Creative Crawl & Coat Drive

RAA is part of the downtown Sharon "First Friday" Creative Crawl Oct. 5. RAA members are invited to participate by setting up their work for sale inside of Cravings Cafe' from 6 to 9 p.m. THERE IS NO CHARGE TO SET UP. Be there a little early, if you can, to arrange your work. Bring your own table and signs for your art or crafts that you would like to sell.

This is the first time that the art community and businesses of downtown Sharon have done this so we have no idea of what to expect in terms of audience and visitors. However, if we make a good attempt at giving people the opportunity to enjoy the art that our community has to offer, then we will build on the success of this first one for all the rest to follow..

RAA is also sponsoring a COAT DRIVE for the needy as part of our commitment to our community. Clean, "gently worn"  or new children's and adult coats are being accepted. They will be distributed to the needy through the Price of Peace. If you can donate a coat, please do. There are many people in need of warm coats for the winter months.

Also, anyone who would like to donate their time to help collect the donated coats, your help would be appreciated. You won't need to do anything but point people to where to put the coats. Help in anyway you can. Donate a coat or donate some time. It is for a good cause. And you'll get a scoop of ice cream as your reward.

The mural on the side of the Cricket Wireless building in the Sharon City Center on South Water Avenue is complete.

Special thanks goes out to those who have contributed to making this happen. Daniel Frija, owner of the Sharon City Plaza; Jack Campbell; Donna & Karen Winner and Dave Perschka of Winner International; Mike Lisac of Warehouse Sales; Bernadette Kashien and Lisa of Warren Glass & Paint; and Jim Landino of JCL Development.  And thanks to the students of Sharon High School and their Art Instructor Sean Enoch for providing the silhouettes for the wall. This has truly been a community effort and it shows what can happen when we all work together.

This project was partially funded by a grant from the Pennsylvania Partners in the Arts Stream Project grant issued through the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts.

New Photography Group - 1st Meeting of F.L.O.P. (For the Love of Photography)

At the first meeting of FLOP we will look at what a respected juror considers to be "good" photographs. So go to Photo 2018 at TAG on March 10 (opens at 7 p .m.). While you look at the show please note and maybe take photos (if allowed) of your favorite pieces. Also note the presentation of the pieces in the show. Sometimes the presentation makes a BIG difference in the impression a photo makes. After that about 8:30, we will meet a couple doors down from the gallery at the "Speakeasy" bar, by the Best Western Hotel and we will have our meeting there over drinks. So come there prepared to talk about what you have seen at the show.
